DO I NEED A DEGREE TO TEACH ENGLISH OVERSEAS?

Having a degree is not usually a Work Visa requirement, however many schools, in particular, in the public schooling system (state/province managed high schools and universities), ask for native English speakers with a degree. For many other private schools and colleges, while degrees may be a preference (usually to satisfy the student’s parents), TESOL/TEFL/TESL qualified teachers are accepted over people who have no qualifications of any kind.

To fill the 10s of thousands of positions available throughout China, for instance, there are not enough degree holders who are interested in going to teach in China, where the pay, while great compared to the local cost of living, is low in comparison to countries like Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Saudi Arabia who generally pay very high salaries.  You will find that more often than not, in major Chinese cities like Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong that having a degree will be a must.  The more money a school offers, the more likelihood a degree will be a prerequisite for employment.

WHY DO I NEED A TESOL/TOEFL QUALIFICATION TO TEACH OVERSEAS?

It used to be relatively easy to get jobs teaching overseas as a traveler/backpacker, but these days, English learners overseas are getting more and more sophisticated in their needs and requirements, and as school fees get higher, parents are demanding teachers who at least have done some formal teacher training and who can deliver a structured lesson. This is where a TESOL/TOEFL training course and its ensuing qualification, comes in.

CAN I DO VOLUNTEER WORK?

We have an association with a group in Cambodia who are looking for TESOL/TOEFL trained teachers to volunteer for short and long periods.  So if you are interested in helping this community, we can supply the teaching qualifications to get you there.  Come, and make a difference in the world.

  • Use of Computer/or computer connection in room

WHERE CAN I TEACH?

China and Vietnam are currently the favorite flavors and have a huge demand for TESOL trained graduates.  Other countries around the world like, Japan, Korea, Europe, South America, India, the Middle East and Taiwan also have employment available.
